re: small towns.

hello lovers,

this is a warning. beware. hold fast. be strong. love your kids. be a good parent.

saw some messed up shit today, downtown at tim horton's, this dude pimping out young girls, selling dope, i watched a mother pick up her daughter, confrontational style, he hid in tim horton's like a coward, but a seriously big dude. it was messed. all this happened in half an hour while having a coffee and catching up on emails and facebook crap. i seen this dude before. gonna try to photograph him. so many sleazy douchebags are there, hanging out in vans and cars beside where all the kids smoke.....hold tight your kids man, the world is a dark place. even in small towns.

i posted this on facebook today.

re: upcoming art show.

hello lovers,

how are you? i hope you are well. i mean it. like, super well. awesome in fact. haha.

i am, there's all sorts of chaos around us, it's epic, but all we can do is soldier on, keep moving forward, because what's the alternative? thumbs receding, eye's closening, teeth getting longer, hunches in our backs!?!?! hahaha.

so, i've been listening to the new "Queens of the Stone Age," quite a lot and really dig it.

why?

because, it's fresh and new, and unlike a lot of the shit out there these days, but how long have we been saying that? forever. probably since mozart, beetlejuice and rammstein.

anyways, it's a great, dark, brooding, sexy at times album.

i read interviews or some shit like that where the ginger-haired singer Josh Homme (french for "dude." how perfect?) said most of it was written after he flatlined on the old operating table for a knee operation. sounds serious and whack!? and overkill.

now, i'm not a doctor, but that should/could have been local anesthesia? or like played by the spirit of cliff burton?

haha, kidding. poor taste joke for a musician i love. cliff burton. not josh "man."

cha-ch.

well, back to the review. great album. dark as fuck. but has some great shagging moments. as every Queens of the Stone Age album should.

shagworthy vote? 7.5 out of 12.

why 12? coz fuck you that's why.

ass.

re: flooding and aboriginal day.

hello lovers,

wow, crazy stuff happening today.

massive flooding in southern alberta. mother nature rears her head and bitch slaps a 100,000 people in alberta. but will they stop extracting oil? no.

it's a lesson in humility for a province, and sadly, yes, there have been deaths. that's life though. weirdly enough. the texas of canada has it's ass kicked. in 1 day. perhaps we should think about this, how 1 day can completely change or take our lives. 1 minute.

we take so much for granted these days. water at the controls of a tap. light at the flick of a switch. heat at the turn of a dial. plumbing at the flick of a lever.

what we should ask ourselves is how long will these privileges last?

what's our strategy to deal with the power going off?

how will we survive?

heavy news on the solstice. wherever you are, i hope you are well.

until next time,

cb

re: ecce homo or whatever.

hey lovers,

do you like eggs?

i can't remember if i shared this one online or not. father's day is a weird one for me as i never had a dad. i had a biological human that helped create me, but never raised me. so, now, that i am a human being with children that i am responsible for, it's a bit challenging.

the world is changing so quickly, i struggle to keep up with the kids, they're so crazy smart and born for technology it blows my mind. anyway, i must go,

cb

re: father's day!

hello lovers,

time to remind dad why you love him. it, she or whatever. haha. and if you have daddy issues, that makes it that much more weird, awkward and uncomfortable for all. so go ahead, make that call.

as for me, i'll have my kids and we'll be burning effigies of my dad on the front lawn. hahaha.

cheers,

cb

re: skeleton.

hello lovers,

death. it's all around us. as is life. while we went out for our workshop, i spied a dead cow in the field and went and took a few shots of it. at least, i think it's a cow. it was huge. could have been a horse too? anyway, just thought they were strange and interesting.

re: cultural/media workshop.

hello lovers,

doing some workshops right now, gathering traditional foods and medicines and documenting it with video and photos. teaching kids how to do this, so they can learn and hopefully continue to do so. giving, or sharing skills is awesome. i had to learn the hard way in life, so it is rewarding to share the skills and hopefully mentoring the kids to avoid pitfalls and making the same mistakes i did.

anyways, check it out!

re: photo time.

hello lovers,

time for some photos. i've got a wanderlust. lustful wander. wandering lustfully. etc.

haha. i travel and make art, curate shows, make films, do presentations, readings, and workshops for a living. it only took two decades to get here, but i'm having fun now that i am. as well, i was meditating on my digital art the past couple days and have definitely noticed i'm much happier since i'm taking a break from it. it is something i do love to work with creatively, but definitely i feel better as an artist taking risks, branching out and expanding my creative repertoire by working with sometimes massive mural pieces and just painting and drawing again on a daily basis.

i've also opted to not work 24/7 and have chosen a regular work week, monday to friday, nine to five. it's weird and taking some getting used to, instead of endlessly toiling on stuff and getting burnt out and losing my mind. we'll see how it goes, i'm sure i'll end up slipping and find myself working until 1 am like i did last night. haha.

in the meantime, here's some photos i've taken the past couple months. i'll be posting for the next few days. places i've been, people i've seen, etc. some artfully done shots of death. haha. despite changing mediums, the messages stay the same. iconography, monsters, death, fire. haha.

cheers, thanks for coming!

re: five years.

hello lovers,

well today is a special day. sort of. it is the 5th anniversary of Stephen Harper apologizing to the First Nations, Metis and Inuit people of Canada for the residential school system, the racism and all that followed such a brutal method of integrating the First peoples of Canada into the public mainstream.

What has happened? Well, 2 years ago I mentored the youth from the Kelowna friendship centre on making their own film, telling their own story, little did we know when we first started it, that it would be the last project for that group. Why? It is because Stephen Harper cut $22 million from Federal funding to all the Friendship Centres in Canada across the board and invested instead, $27 million in new prison building. Kind of obvious isn't it?

That man must be stopped. Evicted. Sent out of Canada.

Anyways, I want to hear from you dear reader, lover, blog follower, stalkers, fans, foe and the like. Tell me what you know about the Apology and what does it mean to you? What should it mean to you?

Until next time,

Chris Bose.

re: nicotine, valium, vicodine, marijuana, ecstasy, and alcohol.

hello lovers,

i'm listening to "queens of the stone age." and love it.

so, at the arbour HQ we've got some big ideas coming in the next few years. mind blasting. hopefully we'll get support and rally people around to help really create a creative music, literary and arts scene here in the loops. a place where people don't exodus like mad, but rather come and do a sabbatical, a creative time to rejuvenate and make new works.

anyways, we'll get to that soon enough.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5bNTZMu_Co8

i love the desert sessions. check them out in the link above.

and check the photos of the loops i took on the rez with the gopro hd. fucking amazing camera.

some graff i love.

and graffiti workshops
me and my bro nigel were doing
at 4 Directions.

bringing the art to the kids.
giving them the tools to be creative
to really express themselves.

until next time lovers,

hello lovers,

hope you are well, and i hope you are surprised by this sudden burst of activity on the ol' bloggerino!?

Re: editing blows.

Hello lovers,

Hope you are well?! I'm stuck at home and indoors editing video and it truly sucks. I need a new computer, my projects constantly outpace my creative output due to the fact computers are painfully expensive and technology is constantly changing!

I think I need to start leasing computers, perhaps that is a better solution to the technological quagmire?! At any rate, there is always a way to make art, and I continuously am pushing my personal and creative boundaries, even when it is challenging! I hope you enjoy the art!!

Until next time lovers,

Cb

re: what the heck?

hello lovers,

jeez, well, i've really let things slide on my old blog here. i think it's because i'm maintaining so many different sites and have so many projects going. i've also been updating my instagram so much more. daily. it's more gratifying. people give you feedback instantly. the blog. meh. i can never really tell if anyone reads it, sees it or gives a shit!? haha.

aside from that doubt, things are going well, making positive changes in my life, really busy, and have to keep my eyes on the prize. from now until the end of november, this year is going to be slight insane with lots of exhibitions, workshops, projects and more. i'll try to get back here to update it more frequently.

that said, i also have a blogger application for my ipod, but the thing is, i like to tell you a story when i post on my blog and it is painfully slow on my ipod. i guess the blog is more intimate. there is a dialogue, albeit one sided, but it's a great way to tell stories. the instagram is more about showing you through my lens on the world.

there are so many things i want to do in this journey, we'll see how it goes. things are coming together nicely and according to plan at last. haha.

until next time lovers,

cb

plus, i'm using a shitty computer that i want to throw
off a cliff and watch smash into a million pieces
my life moves fast and my gear needs to keep up i guess.
